Oh how that resonated with me this morning. How silly we must appear to our Lord when we come to him with offerings in hopes of obtaining something only His blood could pay. What I am "doing" for eternal life, what are we all "doing". Is it a life journal, going to church, teaching or leading a small group, listening to christian music, going on a mission trip, or even serving God as a profession in full time ministry. While all these things are "good things" they are never "good" enough to lead us into eternity. This lie of doing things as if God is keeping a tally comparing our "good works" to the ultimate "good work" of our Christ is one of Satan's favorite.
So should I quit doing them. Never. I believe that what Jesus desires is not the attitude of "getting something" for our works but an attitude of "giving something" in response to the ultimate "good work" of Christ. Only He can saves us and when we "get it" and finally see the truth of HIS GLORY then our only response we will be a life of worship to the King, our King that paid the ultimate price for our salvation.
God Bless and have a great weekend.

Preach it Brother!!! I also find it amazing the "Good Things" that we manage to sometimes let take over our lives and get in the way of our true time in worship with God. You are awesome!

Amen! You really should write more often...I don't believe for a second, after reading that, that Stacy has all the talent!
That spoke to me in a huge way this morning. Thank you so much for sharing what God laid on your heart.
I have to fight trying to 'earn' my way into heaven all the time. Maybe 'cause I was raised c of c? I just try to remember that my good things are like dirty rags!! That puts me in my place right away. Thank you David for a much needed reminder and thank you Jesus for doing if ALLLL!
